“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
-C. G. Jung
When my Dad passed away unexpectedly while I was a Senior in high school I felt like a big part of me of was now missing. I felt lost and unsure of what my path was supposed to be. Now I had family members that wanted to tell me what it should be, like what career I needed to choose in order to make a lot of money and what big school I should attend. But this was their vision, not mine. It wasn’t until I looked deep within my heart and soul did my vision of what I wanted to become became crystal clear.
Now at 18, I didn’t know a lot of things (even though I thought I did at the time) I knew three things I wanted to do for sure:
1. I wanted to serve by putting the needs of others before my own. This is why I became a teacher.
2. I wanted to lead by having a positive influence on others to be their very best, not necessarily for themselves, but to be their best for others. This is why I became an instructional coach and administrator.
3. I wanted to inspire others by setting a positive example in everything I do and help them to realize their own gifts and talents so they can pay it forward and inspire others. That is why I am writing this blog.
The answers to your purpose do not lie in a book. It doesn’t lie in the opinion of others. It lies deep within your heart. It’s a sleeping giant just waiting to be awoken. Don’t let another moment pass you by. Do something great because that is what you are.
