No One is Perfect
“When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are.”
We’ve all heard or said the phrase “nobody’s perfect” yet many of us don’t necessarily live by it. We tend to put unnecessary pressure on others to attain something that is truly unattainable whether it be our friends, significant others or our children. We need to realize that if we do not change our ways in how we think about others we will lose our relationships with them.
Relationships can be significantly damaged if we continue to hold such high standards for others. Perfectionism leaves no room for any missteps and leads to feelings of doubt, resentment and anger. No one wants to walk on eggshells around you and they will do anything to avoid this type of conflict with someone that expects them to be perfect. Question: It this really worth it? A better question is are your perfect? The answer to both is a big NO.
If we have the mindset of liking those for who they are this would create a better environment for our relationships with them to grow and thrive. Besides, life would be a lot more boring if everyone was perfect and what’s the fun in that?
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing relationship skills in your own life?
