“Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”
Follow your bliss. We often don’t hear the word bliss used too much anymore and maybe at a time like this maybe we should start adding that back into our vocabulary repertoire. Bliss means what brings perfect happiness or joy. No matter what we maybe currently going through that happiness and joy is still exists. We just need to find it, put ourselves out there (and not be afraid) and go for it.
We have all experienced that sense of bliss in our lives at one time or another. This could have been when we graduated high school or college. It also might have happened when we got married or when our children were born. During those moments you might have experienced little or no discontent in those moments. This overwhelming feeling of joy and happiness was something that we wished would never end.
When we take the time to look for that happiness and joy in our lives it helps influence our behavior which can then positively affect others that interact with us. I know we have all had times when we have been sad or upset and how this might have influenced our behavior in a negative way which can, unintentionally, causes us to “snap” at someone we love even when they were not the cause of our current mood. Emotions and feelings, whether they are positive or negative, have the tendency to linger and we need to be mindful of this and learn to do a better job in self regulating.
Life is a roll of the dice and that in itself can be scary. We need to remember that we only go through this life once and want to not live it being afraid to follow that joy, happiness or passion we have deep within soul. We need to live with no regrets so that the doors that Joseph Campbell mentions in today’s quote are available to us. It is important that we tap into our emotions and recognize how it influences our behavior in how we portray ourselves to others. When we do this we will be more self aware.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
