It’s The Climb
“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.”
When we are moving onward and always forward to a certain goal or destination this is considered making progress. It takes time, dedication and effort. The steps we take can be productive ones for us in our individual growth as well as those people we encounter along the way.
What I find interesting about today’s quote is that Winston Churchill describes this progress as never ending. The path we are on continues to lengthen. I look at this as our lifeline of the experiences we have or will eventually have. As this path ascends the size and importance of our path increases. When we are little we have hopes and dreams and this path towards self discovery starts out small and most often less defined. As we experience more our path becomes clearer as we start to figure out our purpose and what are true calling is. With each positive or negative experience our path continues to evolve and develop through continuous improvement. Notice I said continuous. We should always be growing as individuals.
Our journey is never ending and once we allow ourselves to come to terms with this I believe if we have a growth mindset it takes away the unattainable goal of perfection-something that will never be achieved. To try an attain it in my opinion is a waste of time and our efforts should be focused on continual self improvement. Developing our own moral compass is never ending because there is always an area that we can work on: from self awareness to responsible decision making. Each of our pathways will be different but our goals will be the same in being the best person we can be and living a life full of love. We need to remember to celebrate the journey we are on and that our joy and the glory in it, comes from the climb itself.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards further developing your own moral compass?
