Well Done vs Well Said

“Well done is better than well said.”

-Benjamin Franklin

Actions are better than words. That is in essence what is meant by Benjamin Franklin’s quote. Often times we get caught up in doing a lot of talking of what we are going to do but lack the follow through in actually doing something. Then before you know its been a week since you said you were going to do something. Its one thing if it only affects you but when others are depending on you and delivering results that never get off the ground the consequences can be detrimental.

The concept of self management is so much more than controlling our impulses and stress levels. It is also about motivating oneself and organizing our thoughts into setting achievable and/or attainable goals. Each one of us has the innate ability to turn our words into actions. It just takes one tiny step in the right direction. What is planned out is what gets done.

So as my Mom always told me to think first before speaking I think this holds true to what this quote is implying. Our plan of action must we well thought out with steps mapped out along the way in order for true change to occur. Besides….what actually has more clout and longevity: what someone says or what someone does?  Words are just that…words. In the beginning they have meaning but has the tendency to be forgotten over time. Actions on the other hand stay forever engrained within our minds and can further establish strong personal relationships along the way with the ultimate goal of making this world a better place.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better?
