Lead From Your Heart

“I don’t go by a rule book, because I lead from the heart, not from the head.”

-Diana, Princess of Wales

Rules provide us with certain parameters, guidelines or structures that are developed and based upon standards that outline how we should conduct ourselves within a certain environment. And rules are often associated with matters of the mind rather than matter of the heart. Today’s quote is a powerful one in that today’s leader needs to lead more from their heart and our society in my opinion need more of those type of leaders now more than ever.

Being a heartfelt leader carries many qualities that are needed that cannot be found in any rule book. They first and foremost are authentic and everything they do they do for others. Their thoughts and actions are genuine. They lead with a servant leadership mindset, are trustworthy and lend an empathetic ear towards those they work alongside with. By following their lead, you become inspired to better yourself and learn that enjoying the journey is as important or more important than the destination.

In addition to having a growth mindset, a heartfelt leader is highly ethical and is intentional in all that they do. Additional strengths they possess are ones of influence, vulnerability and support. In essence they are “real” with their team which makes them more approachable and even more relatable. Most importantly, they help to develop future heartfelt leaders with the hopes that they pay it forward by continuing to emulate and instill these qualities for generations to come.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards becoming more socially aware?
