Our Moral Compass: Be Determined

“Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then we shall find the way.”

-Abraham Lincoln

Having a growth mindset is one thing. Maintaining it when life throws certain challenges our way is another. As the saying goes if you can believe you can achieve. President Abraham Lincoln’s quote reminds us as long as there is a will there is a way.

Life is hard. Sometimes there are certain aspects of our lives that seem insurmountable. Obstacles that we feel may never overcome. But it is when we are experiencing these feelings of doubt is when we need to have our sheer will and determination to step up to the plate. But determination can only be awoken when we make the decision to move from needing to do something to actually wanting to something.

It is through this level of determination that anything is possible. It is also what helps us push through challenges with a never give up kinds of attitude. If one door doesn’t open, try another. If there appears to be a roadblock in your path find an alternative route. If you look throughout and within any history book when things looked rather bleak in either a war or in fighting for a just cause, those involved were determined to have the outcome be in their favor. And you know what? They found a way. They did not quit. They persevered. In fact, they did not just merely tried to survive but rather thrived.

So what are some things that you have always wanted to do that you have felt like it was a battle you just couldn’t win? Are you determined to stop at nothing to make that dream a reality? Remember our will can only be as strong as what we believe it can be. So dig deep within yourself and find that way because its there and I believe in you.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
