Adopt Mother Nature’s Pace
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Envision yourself living out in the country and it is early morning, just on the verge of the sun rising. You make yourself some coffee or tea, then proceed out towards your front porch to sit on your favorite rocking chair to watch the sunrise like your do every day. Once you sit down you look out towards the nearby lake. Just beyond that there are some trees followed by some beautiful mountains. And just above those mountains, peaking through is that glorious sunrise you look forward to seeing each and every morning. Everything just seems so quiet and peaceful. There is no stress within your body and your mind is clear. You feel a sense of true happiness. Can you picture this or have you ever experienced this state of complete tranquility?
Now let’s continue visualizing that once the sunrise concludes you go for your morning walk alongside the lake followed by taking your favorite path through the forest. As you walk along the lake you see fish swimming and birds flying over the lake to sit in trees. Those same birds are chirping in the distance and you then see some ducks now floating on that same lake. A beaver is continuously working on their dam like they do every morning. They seem so meticulous as they engage in this work. Now you have reached the pathway and continue on your walk.
The forest you are walking through are made up of pine trees. You can smell the pine so clearly that it puts those air fresheners that claim to have that same sweet smell to shame. You see a bed of flowers with some of the flowers on the verge of blooming and it this process itself is purely magical. For the flowers that have already bloomed you see bees and other insects tending to them and at the same time patiently waiting for those new flowers to bloom in order to do the same thing they are currently doing all over again. You see animals scurry throughout the forest and everything just seems to naturally fall into place and works like clockwork. This is Mother Nature at it’s finest hour.
Ok so you must be wondering why was such a picture as the one described above in today’s blog had such a focus on mother nature and its sense of calmness? In my opinion Mother Nature teaches us the same lesson every day and it is time we start paying closer attention to it: the lesson of patience. Mother Nature never rushes its morning process and things just happen naturally. It shows such a strong sense of control and is a perfect example of what self management should be. Each day there is a level of consistency in successfully regulating itself and patience is seen by those that are a part of that circle of life like that of the bees waiting for flowers to bloom. Nature is a true phenomena of the physical world collectively and has a certain flow to it. We need to find our flow, by becoming more patient and enjoying the journey of life as we live our lives to the fullest each and every day.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better?
