“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”
American author Napolean Hill’s quote for today serves as a reminder to us all that we cannot control outside factors or how certain situations turn out. It comes down to our interpretation of each event and how we handle or react to it. Self management plays a huge part in being able to handle the adversities, failures and heartaches he is referring to. I’m sure if you are saying to yourself you have never experienced any of these, you may in fact be telling a little white lie right now because I know of no one that at some point in their lives who has not experienced at least one of these.
The focus of this quote is not necessarily on those that you may have been challenged with, failed at or the result ended in heartbreak. It really is the seed that is planted within each of those experiences that will benefit us all in the long run. Remember the purpose of why we plant seeds in the first place: to have them grow into beautiful plants or flowers. By planting the seed in soil it provides the nourishment necessary along with water and sunlight to grow and thrive. In essence it evolves from one form into another just like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. It promotes its own self growth.
I believe that is what lies in the seeds of every adversity, failure and heartache: growth. Growth in how we will better control our impulses and our stress levels while maintaining a certain amount of self discipline and self motivation along the way. The benefits lie in what we learn from not only from experience itself but also what learn about ourselves as individuals. We learn how to better handle ourselves when we are faced with future adversities, failures and heartaches. None of these will be exactly the same mind you, but each time we face them we will become stronger in dealing with it thanks to prior experiences. Again, and I cannot emphasize it enough, it really comes down to looking at things with half glass full type of view. We need to ask ourselves how each of these experiences will help us become a better person in the long run because self-growth is what this life is all about.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better?
