Our Moral Compass: Value What You Are

“Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.”

-Malcolm S. Forbes

American entrepreneur and mostly known as the publisher of Forbes magazine essential message in today’s quote is that we as individuals have the tendency to focus and overestimate on the things we are not and fail to appreciate the things we truly are. In other words what we do focus on the right things or the positive things for that matter. Maybe the reason behind this is we are all perfectionists. Maybe it is because by focusing on the things we are not but wish we were drives us towards improving ourselves. Whatever the reason I’d like us all to hit the pause button on judging ourselves for a moment and think about this. And perhaps even write it down so you can always refer back to.

Let us celebrate our strengths, values and what we stand for. Think of the impact we have had on others. Think of what your purpose is and the efforts that you put forth each and every day to be your very best. Have you hit every one of your targets yet? Most likely you haven’t and that is ok. There are still things you are striving to improve about yourself that you had hoped you would have already accomplished but don’t get discouraged. Remember it is not about the journey but the process. The process is all about developing you into who you were meant to be. Once you realize what value you bring to others and your importance in this world is then the sky is the limit!

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
