Our Moral Compass: Change Starts With Us

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

-Barack Obama

Good things come to those that wait. I’m sure you have heard that saying at one time or another. For the most part this is true. Well I thought it was until I read today’s quote by President Barack Obama when he referred to waiting for change. He says it won’t come if we are waiting for someone else to help bring forth that change or waiting for it to occur at a different time. It is realizing that we are the ones that we’ve waiting for to be that change. The question is are you willing to make that choice to help bring forth that change?

I believe we all have a certain responsibility in that if we see something in life that needs to change for the betterment of society as a whole then we need to do our part instead of waiting for someone else either to come alon . The thing is this: what if that certain someone never comes along and that certain someone was really meant to be you? We have the tendency to sell ourselves short in that we don’t need to be rich or have a certain skillset to help bring forth the change. All we need is an idea, a compelling reason or purpose as to why the change is needed and make the decision to take action. A simple but powerful recipe for change that any of us can follow to a “T.” Remember the change starts with us and our decision to be that change. So let’s do it.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
