“Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.”
Throughout her life Saint Mother Teresa was dedicated to caring for the destitute and dying in the slums of Calcutta. She was selfless by putting the needs of other first and foremost. In today’s quote she reminds us of the one fruit that is in season at all times during the year. The one that we all can reach out with our hands to not only take but to give. That fruit is the fruit of love. This description of love being looked at as a fruit is a beautiful concept in my opinion. Think about it. Fruit is looked as being nourishing and good for you. And like fruit so can love be the same thing. It makes you or others feel fulfilled and it is a feeling that helps nourish your own mental health and well being.
As we all know love is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. Love is possible and achievable by all if we allow our moral compass to lead it there. And it is always a choice to do so. In a blog written recently there were 10 ideas on how we can best love one another now and in the future:
1. Love others by encouraging them
2. Pray for one another
3. Act humbly towards others
4. Be hospitable to everyone
5. Serve others with love
6. Live at peace with one another
7. Show love with forgiveness
8. Don’t badmouth others
9. Speak truth to others in love
10. Bear other’s burden
And remember that we have the power to choose to love. And love never fails.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
