Our Moral Compass: Two Things That Make A Person

“Be prepared and be honest.”

-John Wooden

Legendary coach John Wooden was not just known for being a wonderful college basketball coach but also a well respected mentor whose philosophy on how we should live our lives was admirable. Today’s quote from him is no different. When we are prepared for life itself we set ourselves up for future success: success for the day that lies ahead, success for the future. Now there are certain things that do occur without us truly being prepared for it and that is bound to happen. The things is if we are able to already prepare for what we can control, when life throws us a curveball at least that will be the only thing we will have to focus on because the rest was already prepared for.

Now as the saying goes, honesty is the best policy. Now that is not just a policy for good business but also for being a good person. And besides…. if you can’t be honest with yourself then who can you be honest with? When we are truthful we set the stage for being a person who values what they say and what they believe in. Honesty has the opportunity to bring out the best in all of us.

Honesty and be prepared: two qualities that make a person reliable and dependable.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better?
