What Can Generate And Have A Powerful Impact On Others
“I’ll spend 90 minutes sending 50 emails today, but my guess is a 30 second voice memo to someone in my life that is intentionally kind will be more impactful than those 50 emails combined.”
We all have good intentions towards making this world a better place by letting the people we care about know how much they mean to us and exhibit acts of kindness on a daily basis towards them. But let’s face it. Life gets complicated. We get so caught up in all that we have to accomplish in our jobs day to day that things that we lose sight of what our true intentions originally were. We lose our way. We lose our purpose. When it is all said in done we need to remember that it is our relationship skills with others that makes all the difference towards living a fulfilled and happy life.
Co-founder of Character Strong and author of the book Deep Kindness Houston Kraft reminds us in today’s quote that just the simple act of letting someone know that leaving a just one quick voice memo for someone we care about that is intentionally kind will be more impactful than generating 50 emails within a day. Emails can never replace that personal connection you can have with someone by letting them know verbally about how you feel. As the saying goes “actions speak louder than words.” To me emails seem very artificial and can often be misinterpreted through an email’s tone or true intended purpose. When we verbalize our feelings of appreciation it is much more natural and I think reassures the other person hearing it what our true intentions towards them are. People will recognize and appreciate your efforts by going that extra step to letting them know what you mean to them. So here is my advice: before you send another text or email reach out to someone today by calling them and be intentional with your words of kindness by letting them know how you feel about them and why they are special to you. It will make a world of difference in their lives and also in yours.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
